Travel

They said…

That the world holds promises
They decreed pleasure and fun
And an obituary of grief and hindrances…

They said..

Pain will not last forever,
That joy will find its way
And all that pricked and hurt
Will solemnly go away…

Only time…

Taught me well,
That choices will define my spectrum

That travel was the key
To cease all the humdrum…

In response to the writing prompt by http://godoggocafe.com

All that is…

What is this
That tests my hopes so…

What is this colour in the sky
That repels and is so loud…

What is the rush in the waves
That seems to devour every shore…

What is this…this roar
That silently lurks in every corner…

What is this garden
That doesn’t let the winds in…

What is this speech
That is scared of being mouthed…

If this is what the world is
What then is the release
What is the way out…

What is that door
Beyond the cacophany…

What is that grass
Overly green, like Paradise…

What is this shift
From boredom to ecstasy…

What
What is this world

That lives on in uncertainty.

The same Sun…

Someday I will tell her
How much I long
To have her by my side….

Someday she will know
How every whiff of the wind
Feels like she breathed inside…

Sometimes I feel her
Slipping away
To places unheard of…

Sometimes I tell her so
And she shrugs
To say that is naught…

Someday I will take her
To places she
Would never have surmised…

Someday she will see
How much I gaze
At every line on her face…

Till I find her

And tell her

All about my whims

I wish
She is looking at

The same Sun

That meanders into her threshold

As well as mine…

Here we are

We have all come a long way, far from the depths of uncertainty and the best thing of all is, we were not in this alone.

We fought, in unison.

We fought, not against a deadly virus, that was just an excuse.

We strove against our worst fears that begin with…What if?

What if I had achieved more?

What if I had loved more?

What if I had explored when I had the time?

What if I could meet all my friends?

So what has kept us afloat is…

An unexpected hope

Of a better Sunrise

That beckons hope and positivity

Of plans that will suffice

That take us to the chosen eternity

Of unexpected emotion

That surpasses all practicality

Of newfound love

For all humanity…

Just be…

And with the closure around
Somewhere in the periphery
Do you see
What you became
And what you made of me?

Now when it seems
The worst is over
And new skies
Await your flight

Would you venture to go forth
With all that it took
To reach this hilltop
And this hyperbolic tide…

You ought to rest awhile
Let waves carress your foot
Whilst harbingers of joy
Beckon
With arms open
And promises done…

Just let this once
Be
As you are deemed to be
A little imperfect

A little towards perfection

With momentous glee…

Collection of short poems

Core
Did I tuck you in well today?

Have I told you….

That I’d hold your hand

Forever, and never sway

Have I told you?

That I am the mast,

And the sail.

That our ship is steadfast.

Did I tuck you in well today?

When slumber crept into your room,

And dreams danced about your bed.

Did I ask the moon,

To whisk away your worst dread.

Have I told you lately?

You are beautiful and fragile.

That you have an angel…..

For every little mile.

Did I tuck you in well today?

Have I made you strong?

To the very Core

Admonished all your doubts,

And made you very sure.

Have I….

Have I…….

Loved you with all my might,

Fiercer than the wind

That blows tonight…….

Astonish

Astonish
Astonish

Time and again, rummaging through the deepest sore

Yearning for tomorrow, you have destinies galore….

You strive forever, distancing from the crowd

To focus more on the fight, to uncover the shroud.

It is here, it is now;

As you witness the surmounting waves

Your one last chance remains……

Just this one ride, this exodus from the past

Astonished you will be

At how much of you sails…..

The cliff

He smiled at her and nodded,

‘Hold my hand, and walk further…..’, he plodded.

She kept quiet

All the way uphill.

Looking down at the valley,

Gave her the chill

It was here she had fallen

A few years back

Down this very hill….

She cannot talk to him anymore,

And scared as she is,

She holds his wrists tighter

‘It is now or else never’

His eyes seem to say

So they stand at the edge

Where the cliff gives way,

To death and echoed grey….

She beholds the depth, retraces the fall

‘It will always be with me

That you will stand tall

Till you learn to fly

And leave behind the fear to ever fall….’

Thus spake he,

And took a step back…..

She looked up at the skies

And could never surmise,

How, she stood there alone for long….

Watching his angelic face

That smiled and receded,

Up, up into the blue arcade….

You

If ever, you happen to touch the sky

And shirk within……

If ever, you happen to ride the cloud

And are told to slow down a little……

If ever, ever it so happens

That your pinnacle

Seems to draw out sniffs and giggles……

Promise, promise me

That you will be all this

And more……

Till the sky stoops down

And the clouds chariot you

Promise, promise yourself….

You……you will always be YOU.
